I Dared

my hundred years

              never seemed
              a likely script,

being home
                                means I live
       or die another
                  sleepless night

on the streets—

               too many hardships
               have littered my passage

through this
                                  time-lapse
        illusion,
                     I recall

more faces
                                  than I forget,

               but dreams
               have receded from

memories,
                                 maybe it was
        just fiction—
                      my life

                is not a softly
               running stream,

I dared
                                 the gods
        anyway
