Dirt Roads

I’m a child
                of a thousand
     lifetimes,

but infinity
                remains an
     inflexible distance

          before me.

An admonition
                to remind—
          I am not

a privileged
                pilgrim,
     though I

did survive the
                gravitational
     collapse of

          Atrara’s Quasar.

I’m a
                metacognitive
     abstraction

 to myself,
                chasing my
     immortality

            on dirt roads.
