Ethos

We gather in early
Morning, on dragonfly
Blue perigean tides,

Ocean wave runners
Sketched against rising
Dawns, hastening for

Prime position, but
More often tossed beneath
Unsympathetic seas, the

Bane of misjudged swell
Speeds, a fitting analogy to
Careless surrenders of

Humanness as we
Casually deteriorate from
Prolonged opposition to

Our own continuation,
Suggesting reckless arrogance
Empowered by wounded

Ethos, but we are not yet
Dismissed to the finality of an
Extinction level outcome

“We must not accept the proposition that a relationship with a government, political organization, religion, belief system, corporation, geographical border, or even family constitutes an irreducible primary. The irreducible primary is the human species, and this fact is firmly established by the unique composition and determinative influences of human beings relative to all that exists.”
